
Leesa Streifler is a Canadian artist based in Regina, Saskatchewan and a Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina where she teaches painting and drawing in the undergraduate and graduate programs. She received her B.F.A. Honours from the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg, Canada) in 1980 and her M.F.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York in 1983. Before moving to Regina, Streifler was a practicing artist in New York, where she lived from 1980-86.
An established artist, her practice is focused on painting, drawing and photography combined with drawing and text. She is known for her feminist work investigating the female body as an expressive site of cultural affect. Her work has been exhibited across Canada and she has received significant support in the form of grants and awards. Her work is in numerous public collections including the National Gallery of Canada.
